Attentive Cat

Hi. My 6 yr old female cat is sort of a lap cat. She likes my company but will go off on her own, sit across the room, sleep under the bed etc. My question is that when I am emotionally upset she sticks very close and insists on sitting on me or at night sleeping on me. Why?

Well of course i am inable to give you the exact answer to this as nobody truely knows the mind of a cat and why they certain things.

However i have experienced what you have with one of my old cats. When i lost my grandmother and was very upset my cat suddenly appeared to be always sitting near me or rubbing against my legs.

All i can surmise is that they sense that we are upset and try to bring us a little comfort with their company.

I'm sure many cat owners have experienced a similar reaction from their cats too.
