cat pooping problems

I have a himalayan sealpoint. She is 3 years old and lately she has been pooping on my mat that is located in front of my door. Her litter box is cleaned and in the same spot it has always been. Nothing has changed but she is going every couple of days now.

It sounds to me like she may have smelt or become aware of another cat outside. their scent may be on the outside or the door or may have been brought in on someone's shoes.

this behaviour is a territory marking issues mainly and is known as Middening.

You will also have to make sure that rug is thoroughly cleaned. use some bicarbonate of soda on it to try and get rid of any final traces
