inside cat got outside

my inside cat got outside five days ago. It is like 5 degrees and tow feet of snow. I found him under my neighbors house today and he is just laying on the floor. He didn't eat very much. He has always been timid but, he loves us now. he runs from other people and he runs from cars going by while he is in the window. Is he just scared or could he be sick.

Sounds to me like he is just being cautious in his new found world. He may also be a little extra nervous because of all the new sounds,sights and smells he has come across and that could be affecting his appetite.
Offer him food regularly and try and coax him out, but i wouldn't worry too much at this point. Just keep an eye on him and give him the opportunity to come inside etc .
