No sound when meowing

My 15 yr old persian has stopped meowing. She makes the motions but no sound is coming out. This has only been within the last week. She also is hyperthyroid and on medication for that. My daughter's cat got like this and they found he had cancer in his throat. Any ideas?

I am not a vet and so would not like to try and give a diagnoisis. I wouldn't necessarily jump to the conclusion that something is terribly wrong though.

As cats gets older they get a little bit frailer just as we do and sometimes their meow can weaken. Or they may even get a sore throat just like us.

If it were me i would get her checked out even if it is just to put your own mind at rest.
