Sticky Tail

My one year old male cat has a sticky like spot on his tail. We thought it was just sap or something so we tried to wash it out, but it didn't go away. Now, it seems to be getting larger. WHat could this be?

if you are able to wash it out, see if you can see anything on the skin, like a sore or weeping area. If not then i can only think that he is sittting somewhere where something sticky is getting on it.

The only other option if you stink that it is something which is coming out of your cat, then i would suggest taking him to the vets in case he has some skin condition or even mite which could be causing this excretion.
