Tape worms?

We have a beautiful black and white cat. We have always noticed that he was fat but lately his stomach is huge and he does not liked to be petted on his lower back or around his belly. Last night I was looking under his tail and saw these tiny worms coming out! What is going on? WIll he die? WIll my children get the worms?

H sounds to me like your cat has a very bad case of worms. This is a common cat ailment and he needs to be protected by them regularly. Please read my page about the different cat worms and how o prevent them. HOWEVER in this case i really do think you need to take your cat to the vet urgently, it sounds like he has a very bad case of them and may need further medical care other than the normal worm remedies.

They are definitely not something you want in your home as some can affect humans too.
