Tommy's Meow is gone

Our cat Tommy was gone for 2 days and came back without a Meow. His purr seems to be affected too. Can you tell me if he should go to the vet or give it a few days? Taking him to the Vet. is soooooo stressful on him and me. I was hoping that this may be just that he was stuck some where and meowed for 2 days buy I've been reading that it might be an upper respiratory infection and he may need antibiotics.

well you have answered your question really. Cats do get colds and sore throats just like us and this can affect their voice etc for a few days, espcially during winter. My own cat gets this some times.

the solution is to wait a few days and as long as they are still eating and urinating as normal then hopefully they will get better on their own. If the symptoms last more than three or four days then yes take them to the vets in case they do need some help with antibiotics.
