11 year old cat has suddenly quit hiding and quit sleeping with me

I have 3 cats, one is an 11 year old female calico, the other 2 are 18 months old. My 11 year old has always been very very shy and has always slept with me. Suddenly about 3 wks ago she came out of the bedroom and never went back. She no longer sleeps with me, stays in the living room, doesn't run when approached (this is all new for her). She's eating, drinking and using the litter bx same as usual. I can't figure out why her habits have changed.

Hi
I have owned many different cats through out my life and in all cases every cat has changed its behavior patterns from time to time. This is not unusual and I don't think there is any one reason for it.

Sometimes as they get older their behavior changes, perhaps its now too hot for her on the bed or perhaps she has found a new place to sleep which she prefers.

I have two cats currently and they have often switched behaviors for no apparent reason.

As long as she is still eating and drinking etc ok I don't think it is something you should worry about. Keep an eye on her in case there are other changes which might indicate something being wrong, but i'm sure this is just a phase.

best wishes Kate
