Cat Question
Why do cats scratch the furniture?
Cats have a natural instinct to keep their claws in top condition at all times so that they are able to use their claws for
all the things they need to every day.
A cat uses its claws to:
- Climb
- Defend themselves
- Catch prey
Cats will usually sharpen their claws on rough surfaces such as bark. When they are inside the home , they will use whatever they feel is the closest thing to a tree trunk and furniture such as sofa arms and textured wallpaper fits that bill.
By providing a dedicated scratching post or two for your pet will help your cat to stop destroying the furniture.
