a cat with no meow

i have nine year old cat that lost its meow and is not as active as he use to be and when he tries meow it is only a whisper.

has this just happened? If so he could simply have a sore throat, my own cat can go through this from time to time, it will get better in a day or two. If it is long term then it may be an idea to have them checked by a vet to check that all is well in the throat etc.

hi there,
a few months ago, we rescued 5 kittens from a farm, they all had cat flu, and were only about 5weeks the vet told us, one died with me the night i brought them home, i rehomed two others to friends, and i kept two, i got to know them and didnt have the heart to let them go. But, theo my wee boy has never really spoke (meowed) the tiniest wee whimper, and what i can only describe as squeeking, he often shows the speaking signs, mouth movements, but nothing comes out, he also gets out of breath very quickly. does anyone know if this is normal?
thanks
stace
