after poop mucous?

by Kathleen
(Drummonds, Tennessee)

My cat is about 5 1/2 months old and for a little more than a week now, I have seen thin mucous that is hanging from her butt which is sometimes mixed with blood. Her mood, eating habits, etc., is normal. She had diah for a few days but went away but the mucous is still there. The only 'strange' behavior I have noticed is that sometimes before she goes poop, she will run around like something is chasing her. She is strictly an indoor cat and was fixed and she had her shots, including feline. Please, any advice will be appreciated.

Hi
well sometimes bad diarrhea can also cause mucus to be produced, its all to do with the cats system trying to get back to normal.

i would treat her for a the diarrhea and make sure she gets plenty of fresh water to drink. keep an eye on her for another few days to see if the situation clears up. if not then it may be that she has an infection which may need some antibiotics from the vet.

I have some pages about treating cat diarrhea which you may find of further information. here is the first page

best wishes Kate
