almost 3 week old kitten keeps crying

A friend's cat moved in with us and she is only over 1 years old herself. She had a litter of four kittens over two months ago and sadly they died (in their previous home.) She had six kittens almost three weeks ago. One has taken to howling like mad and following her across the carpet. The other five are fine. Is this because the kitty might not be getting enough milk? We have a kitty milk supplement, but it doesn't seem to want that. What else can we do? Also mummy puss cat has had a small bout of dihorea, but seems okay health wise.

It could well be that this kitten is crying for food. if the mother cat is feeling slightly unwell herself she may not be as attentive as she would normally be.

keep an eye on this kitten adn watch to see if he soes feed or not. Some kittens are just more noisy or greedy and the mother cat will dish out the appropriate discipline etc.

if he is not feeding you will have to try and hand feed him yourself. You will need to use a small spoon or pipette as he is too young to lap at the moment. use warm kitten milk not cows milk.

As for the mother cats illness again keep an eye on it and make sure she gets enough to drink herself to prevent dehydration.

If at any time you think that any or the cats look as if they are sick a trip to the vets is always best.
