Black Kitten Lots of White Hairs

Rescued kitten- I have a kitten born all black and is now 7 weeks old. All along she has gotten more white hairs all over, even has long white eyelashes and the hairs that look like eyebrows. Vet says she will probably get even more white hairs as she gets older. She is beautiful! I am wondering how common is she? Thank you! Love your site! Thank you for that.

as for your black kitten. well black and white cats are very common indeed and so i would suggest that the white gene must be a very strong one and so must be in many cats genes somewhere.

I have a black and white cat who is now 2. When we first had him as a kitten his black fur was jet black and solid. Now he is 2 he has white flecks all over this black fur.

However i haven't heard of a black cat with white eyelashes before, so maybe your kitten is rather unusual, but in a good way :).
