can cat stay in 1 room

Hi, I'm Natasha,

I want to get a kitten but before I get 1 I want to know as much as I can about them.
If me and my family are gone somewhere(for a few hours)and our house isn't cat-proofed, can the kitten/cat stay in 1 room that is cat-proofed for a few hours till we come back?
will the cat get angry or scratch the door?

Hi no this is fine as long as it is for only a few hours. make sure the room is comfortable for the cat i.e they have their bed, l; litter tray and some fresh water and nibbles. Also make sure there are plenty of toys in the room to keep the cat occupied. You may even want to put the radio on quietly, some cats like to hear voices or soft music in the background.
