Cat - astrophe

Hi, I have a female cat born 17 October 2010. She was sick about a month and a half ago with constant diarrhoea. We took her to the vet and found out she had Giardia. The vet gave us Flagyl and this stopped her diarrhoea. Now I find cat droppings all over the house including in my bed when she sleeps with us at night. It doesn't look like she is intentionally poohing all over the place, but almost as if she can't help it from just falling out. Almost like a deer that just walks and poohs where ever. It is one single dropping at a time. The pooh is quite hard, but I have found a few soft droplets as well. Can it be that she is constipated? Does she suffer from incontinence? I am really at my wits end. Please Help!

Thank you very much.

Hi
Yes it doesn't sound like middening (see this page for more on this https://www.our-happy-cat.com/cat-poo.html ) It does sound more like she may be constipated or has some other bowel control issue. Unfortunately a vet would have to examine her to find out if there are any issues with her anal area. If she is constipated he will also be able to advise on how to help this. I do have a page on this condition but it may be best to have her checked over by a vet first.

Don't worry i'm sure this is just a temporary issue.

best wishes kate
