Cat Food Sniffing?

Every time I am about to eat something, my 4 year old cat starts hissing and biting until i let her sniff my food. Then she just walks away, like nothing happened. Why does she do this?

Sounds a little odd to me id have not come across this before but i would say that it is a just a habit she has got into.

cats are very inquisitive and if she is used to getting her own way all the time then her behavior would be understandable.

I don't think it is anything to worry about but if you want to break the habit then you should follow the cat discipline techniques described here
