Cat frantic licking

My cat has recently begun passing gas and a few times he has expelled feces when he plays hard. (The feces look perfectly normal) Also, he's begun frantically licking himself and sometimes items around him like the carpet or table. What could be causing this and should I take him to a vet for tests? Thank you!

yes take him to the vets to have him checked over. there could be several issues here but unless a vet takes a look then it is impossible to say.

he may have an allergy or a parasite problem which is causing the frantic licking. he may also have a problem with his rear end or even a tummy upset where he can't control his bowels properly. best to have him checked out now rather than waiting until things could get worse.
