My 14 year old cat have very bad breath what can i do to help her

Answer by Kate
hi, well my first thought is, when was the last time she had a check up at the vets? i ask this because cats need regular yearly checkup at least as one of the things they check is their teeth.

often cats need some dental work to remove plaque build up or have teeth removed if need be. This can be a cause of bad breath.

the other possibility is that she has a digestive problem, which again can cause bad breath.

The best thing you can do for your cat is to take her to the vets for a check up. This will nip this problem in the bud as well as preventing any further problems if there is a problem with her teeth or tummy etc.

best wishes Kate

dental work
by: Mirrors

My cat had severe bad breath several years ago when she was of a similar age. I thought she was just old and her organs were breaking down. I took her to the vets after a telephone call to them when I was told it was more likely she needed dental work. They did 8 extractions which was costly but worth every penny as the smell disappeared and she's still going strong.
