My friends 15 year old cat has some scabs on the edges of her mouth and on her chest. They've been there for a year at least, possibly more. It isn't feline acne, and my friend said the two vets she's taken the cat to have no idea what's wrong. The scab on one side of her mouth is rather large; I think it's more of a pus scab that a blood scab. The one on her chest is harder to see, but it's probably the same. They don't seem to bother her and she doesn't scratch them. She does have some kidney issues, but she's on food the vet gave her that's supposed to be formulated for kidney problems. She is also blind, one eye from being hit by a car when she was young, and one from the high blood pressure from the kidney problems. I was thinking it could be a slightly odd manifestation of feline herpes, but I'm not sure. I'm planning on buying some L-lysine to see if that helps her at all, but I was just wondering if you had any experience with this sort of thing.
