Why is my cat hanging out day and night in the litter box?

well this is difficult to answer but i wonder if your cat has a urinary infection which makes them feel uncomfortable and they have the constant feeling of wanting to pass urine.

Apart from that i cannot think why else they would want to be in the litter box all day and all night. i would suggest that a trip to the vets for a check up would be a good idea.
