Cat litter box issue

hi,

i have a 18 yr old cat. she is health eats well. i have one problem with her lately. she is using her litter box just to poop. she is peeing on a rug in the basement. and i can't get her to stop. i have tried using a spray called keep off but that doesn't seem to faze her at all.

please help.

This sort of issue is either caused by an urinary infection or is a behavioural issue brought on my something which has changed or happened to your cat recently.
