Cat looks and acts pregnant but isnt
by stephanie

My cat is 2 yrs old, last night she went into "labor" and produced mucus, bloody stuff. No kittens though! She is Not pregnant. What caused her to do this? I have heard of fake pregnancy in pets but do they produce mucus?
Answer
Hi I have never heard of this before and it certainly isn't normal. Phantom cat pregnancies normally refer to behavior issues not actual physical labor.
I would strongly recommned having her looked at by the vet, she may have some other internal problem which needs treatment.
Hope she is Ok
best wishes Kate
