Hi
Do all of your cats drink plenty of water or do they eat only wet food? I ask as male cats are more at risk from uti's etc and if there is not enough fluid in their diet can easily have these problems.
Female cats can of also get uti's and crystals too but are less prone to it.
The best ways to get a urine sample is to buy a kit from your vets which consists of some special litter which is reusable and allows your cat to use a separate litter tray with this litter. The urine can then be sucked up using a pipette included in the kit. I have had to do this recently for my cats.
It is worth following this up especially as you have had a cat who has had a uti before. They may be a cat who is prone to these sorts of problems.
