cat peeing on clothes and coughing up hairballs

my cat is about 9 months old and all of a sudden started peeing on laundry not always dirty but if its left on the floor she will pee on it even if its a foot from her litter box that has been going on for a couple of months and she is always coughing up mass amounts of hair balls and i noticed a few days ago she is completely bald just above her tail and is progressivly climbing up her back what is going on with her ????? I am worried about her she doesnt have fleas i keep checking please help if she doesnt stop peeing my boyfriend is going to get rid of her

well it sounds to me like your cat is distressed in some way. now this could be caused by an allergy or it could be behavioral caused by something in the home which is making her anxious.

You have several things going on here at once.

You need to take her to the vets first to make sure that she is free from any sort of parasite or skin problem. once this has been done and if it is negative then you know it is behavioral caused by stress. In which case you have to look at possible causes in the home, which might be doing this.

you could also at this stage give her a period of confinement litter training (described further in my page about litter training below) this helps build their confidence as they have a smaller area to worry about. Also make sure that the kitten has lots to keep them happy and stimulated in the home so that stress is not caused by bored or frustration.
