Cat pooping everywhere since arrival of kitten

I have a 3yr old female cat who is fixed and she just started pooping on the carpet and spotting blood out of her hind end. Can you explain what might be wrong with her? We also have a 5month old kitten and they share food, water & a litter box, could this have something to do with it? Please help...

If there is blood coming from her hind leg this would suggest that she has either been scratched or bitten by something. Keep the area clean and keep an eye on it to make sure it does not become inflamed and infected in which case she will need to see a vet.

As for the pooping everywhere, this could either be down to anxiety due to the kittens arrival or it amy be down to the leg wound which could have upset her. cats will carry out this behavior (known as Middening to help themselves reinstate their authority on the home and make themselves feel better.
