cat sprayed red urine on door

I just watched my 1 1/2 year old female spayed cat back up to a door and spray red urine (or something) on the door and dripped on the floor while her tail was up and twitching vigorously. Why did she do that?

well it could be that she is scenting her area. Often a twitching tail accompanied by a urine spray is a scent marking activity.

However it isn't normally red. i wonder if she may either be in heat if she has not been spayed or she may have a urine infection.
