Cat very thin after holiday

by Pam Taylor

I went on vacation and left my cat for two weeks, outside. I had someone check on food and water in that time. When I returned, she had lost considerable weight and she is not eating properly, it seems barely enough to keep her going. Is there something I could feed her that would stimulate her appetite?

Thank you for any help.

Hi well it sounds to me like your cat was very stressed by the change in routine and this could have been the cause of her not eating. Although are you sure the person who was supposed to feed her did. I say that as a friend of mine went through a similar experience.

If your cat is very thin and not eating i really would get her to the vets as soon as you can as sometimes the cat goes past a point where the only way to get them back on the road to health is with medication. At least this way you will also be able to make sure that she is not suffering from any other illness.

Hopefully it was just the stress of missing you and being outside all the time and that now you are back and able to give her lots of TLC she will pick up and start to eat again. Cats love really smelly food so anything fishy should help her appetite.

best wishes Kate
