Cat's back sensitivity

My cat is a bit overweight and has some dandruff along her back. She used to have a sweet spot that when I would touch there she would begin to lick the air excessively. We took her to the vet to get shots and her teeth clean and when she got back you could not touch her from her mid back to her tail otherwise she will lick the air or her back. I am concerned about what is wrong with her, I am thinking I need to take her to the vet but it is really hard to get her to go. It does seem to bother her but she’s not aggressive, it just seems to irritate her. Anyone know what could be causing this?

Thanks

hi difficult to say fo sure but she may have developed an allergy to something or there may be a mite problem both could cause the skin to dry out and be uncomfortable to touch.

i really do think you are right in your thinking though, she does need to see a vet especially if it is bothering her as you say. it is best to get the problem diagnosed properly to safe time and expense on treatment.

best wishes Kate
