Coughing Cat

About one week ago I took my 14 month old female cat to get spayed. She's been at home for a week now and she seems to be sicker than before. She ends up sneezing / coughing after every meal. It seems weird to me that she would become sicker after a visit to the vet. Any ideas as to what's happening??

well just like a visit to the doctors for us we are exposed to other peoples germs etc. So it is possible that your cat may have picked up a cold.

The other possibility is that the tubes they used to anesthetize your cat may have caused some irritation to the nose and throat.

As long as there are no other symptoms then i would wait to see if this sneezing and coughing eases up over the next few days. If not then it may be worth checking with your vet in case he wants to see her again.

however if she does have a cold then their is nothing much you can do apart from making sure that she has plenty of freshwater to drink to keep her hydrated.
