I was the neighborhood cat lady tnr ing 20 or so cats and caring for them. Sluggo was an adult unaltered male who always stayed on the 'edge' of the other cats who were afraid of him. One day as I was feeding the cats he came bursting through the hedges and attacked a plate of food. He had become extremely thin. I saw his left eye was injured and he had abcesses all over his head and face. He kept hanging around for a couple of days being fed until I was able to trap him and take him to the vet. Several courses of antibiotics later he was extremely friendly and affectionate. Eventually, we had to remove his left eye, as well as removing a seriously infected polyp from inside his left ear. He has ended up living in our garage, blind in one eye deaf in one ear but a happy healthy cat who has absolutely no desire to leave the garage. He is one of seven cats we took off the street and gave homes.
