Excessive Itching and losing hair

For about a month my cat does nothing but itch. He has lost hair above her eyes to his ears. His tail was fluffy and not looks thin. It is almost that he is nervous. Could it be because of winter? He is an inside cat. He is 11 years old. Never been sick before. There has been stress at our house. My husband had surgery in July, our two sons are living with us part time. This cat dearly loves his family, but I am real concerned. I have changed his cat food. Use to feed him Iams (dry) Any suggestions. thank you. Candy. Well as you say fur loss can be a sign of stress etc but it can also be a sign of an allergy of a skin mite etc.

It really is important to rule out any sort of allergy or skin mite etc so that you at least rule them out. Allergies and mites can be extreamly painful of distressing to the cat and so the sooner these can either be treated or ruled out the better.
