Female cat acting weird

We just caught our female cat urinating in our bathroom sink. She uses the litter box and we've never had a problem with her not using the box. We are renovating our basement where her box is. Could she be sick or acting out because we are disturbing a space that was mainly hers?

Sometimes cats can react like this to changes in the house. when they feel unsettled or worried about things they feel the need to scent their home to mark their territory again but also it helps to calm the cat down if the house smells more of them. please see this page on my web site for more information about this here
