Food Fanatic cat

I have an 11 year old tortishell called Molly. Recently within the last couple of months she has become obsessed with food. She is well cared for, doesn't have worms etc etc so I am confused as to why this obsession has started!? She even tries to steal food from the kitchen worktop- things she would never have even glanced at before. And you can't leave any food un-guarded because she will try and scoff the lot. Despite all of this she still remains an average size, she is not fat in the slightest.
Help!! I don't know what's wrong with my moggy!!

Hi
there are several conditions which could cause this, one of which would be a problem with her thyroid glands. It makes them very hungry all the time but their body cannot process the nutrients so they don't put on weight and eventually if not treated they will start to loose weight regardless of how much they eat.
i would recommend taking her for a check up, if it is her thyroid then it is usually easily treated.
here is some more information on this condition.
