from affectionate to scared cat

my 2 and half year old siamese boy has suddenly gone from following me everywhere and sitting and sleeping with me to running scared when i go near him. we have a siamese girl aswell (not sister) of same age, who has gone the opposite way to him. it is upsetting that he runs away and i would like to know if theres anything i can do to get him back to his usual self. should i go to vets with him. he doesnt go outside so doubtful hes caught anything

well something has obviously upset him or made him feel anxious about you. the trouble is you may not be the cause of the thing which has upset him and he is simply transferring the blame to you, this is a common problem.

All I can suggest is to make sure you are not wearing any strong scents when you approach him as this can be very upsetting for them. And spend some time with him allowing him to re discover you, a bonding session where he takes the lead. Please see this page for more on this

Sometimes these episodes are short lived once he has calmed down i'm sure he will be back to the same old cat that he was before.

Also do make sure he is flea free too, even if he is an indoor cat fleas can still sometimes find there way into the home and this may be making him skittish if he has been bitten etc.
