Getting Kittens should they be boys or girls

Hi, our family recently lost a beloved cat of 14 years. (Well last summer.) We would like another cat but because we are out a lot during the day are considering getting 2 kittens, so that they have each other for company.

However, I have seen how some cats, even sisters, fight as they grow up and don't want to risk such an unhappy situation for them.

Do you have any advice?
Many thanks

Hi Anna
My advice would be to get two boy kittens from the same litter and to have them neutered as soon as your vet will allow. this will reduce any build up of aggression.

I have two brother cats who were both neutered at 4 months old. they are fantastic together and yes will have toe odd scrap but nothing serious.

female cats can be a little more competitive even when spayed but still can live happily together if they are from the same litter. It all depends on how kittens are brought up from birth. Please see this page for more about the sensitive period for kittens
