How can I get my older cat to like a younger feral cat

How can I get my older cat (female) to like a younger feral cat (female) that had her tail crushed an was near death, so I took her to the vet, surgery was done, an now I am giving her antibiotics. The little feral cat is doing nicely now, but my own cat just hisses an makes odd noise towards the little one. Is this a case of territorial protection or just a dislike? Do I dare put them together?
