How can i stop my cat going into neighbors garden?

by alyssa

My year old kitty goes in and out of the house when she wants. She usually uses the bathroom out side (we live in a wooded area) which is fine with me. The problem is she hunts around and ends up going to the neighbors and walking on the edge of their above ground covered pool.. also she chases there big dog while she is over there. how can i stop her from going over there, other than keeping her in the house???

Hi
Unfortunately if your cat is not put off by a dog in the neighbors garden then their is not much that you can do.

there are some cat powders that can be used on gardens which are supposed to deter cats but i'm not sure your neighbors would want that.

Your only other option is to provide her with an enclosed outside area. but this is not always practical and can cost a lot of money.

Are your neighbors complaining about your cat then? Personally i can't see what the problem is. If they have a dog they already have issues with paw prints etc so i can't really see how your cat is causing any problems.

Cats as you know are essentially wild at heart and will go where they want, all we can do is encourage them to go to certain places etc.

Best wishes kate
