Is my cat senile?

I have a cat who is like the mafia boss of my house. Out of my 9 nine he's the largest and has been known to be territorial to my other cats but lately he's been running around the house chasing nothing. And hissin at nothing. and today he's spent almost 10 hours under my couch..Ive had cats for more than 15 yrs and ive never seen this before. Is he senile?

well as cats get older they can sometimes begin to suffer from age related illness as you described. Please see this page for more detail on this

However there are also other possible illnesses which could be affecting him, such as fits etc and your best option is to have him checked over by a vet to rule out any treatable illness he may have. You never know his eyesight may be affected and this is frightening him.
