Is my cat sick because he is so thin

My cat has rapidly lost weight over the last week, before I could barely pick him up and now it seems so easy. He is a maincoon cat and he is 8 years old. My other cat just had kittens about 5 months ago and they are getting big. There is a lot of stress in the house. We kept three of the six kittens so all together we have five cats in the house, two adults and three kittens. The kittens eat a lot and we put out three bowls of dry cat food out at a time. We also put out three bowls of water at a time as well. Not only is he losing weight he is not as social as he used to be, he doesnt even come when I call all the cats, when he used to. I dont know if he is eating as much with all of the kittens around. He just doesnt look as healthy as he used to. Please help me.

Ok first you do need to take him to the vets to have him checked out. Weight loss should always be investigated as their illness which can cause this to happen quickly.
If he gets a full bill of health then it must be down to stress and this would not be surprising due to all these cats living together(cats are not natural pack animals like dogs)
You should try feeding the cats at different times and in a place where the other cats cannot interrupt them, this will allow them to eat in a environment which is not stressful etc. Also try to set up some sort of feeding routine so that there is structure in the cats life, this may also help with reducing stress.
Hope your cat is not ill and that all that is required is some sort of reduction in stress and a more calm environment for the cats to eat and sleep in etc.
