Parker, my cat

My 8 year old cat has been becoming very jumpy in the past 2 or 3 months. He has never been mistreated in his life. For example: when I sat on the couch it made a small thump noise, then he jumped because it scared him. He will randomly meow, then run as fast as he can or run and jump to the top cupboards in less than 10 seconds, when he usually takes his time. I am worried there is something wrong with him because I have no idea if this is connected to his age or not. I know that older cats tend to be vocal, but my cat almost never meows. Only in greetings or when he will randomly freak out. Thank you so much for taking your time to look at my question.

I well 8 years old is not terribly old for a cat at all so I would be surprised if it was an age related problem.

All i can assume is that something must have spooked your cat over then last couple of months which has just made him more edgy.

My advice is always to cat owners is , if your cats behavior changes dramatically for no apparent reason it is always a good idea to have them checked over by a vet. There may some cause which is not apparent to us. then if they get the all clear you can just put it down to a new behavior which often is only a temporary situation.

best wishes Kate
