Little Dotty 5 week old kitty
by kimi

Our little DOtty black and white with dots has been nursing from a bottle for a week now. We noticed the tip of the rubber bottle missing after a fiesty feeding session last week and thought she would just pass it. she had chewed the tip off and swallowed it. Everything seemed fine for about a week until the vomiting happened. We have had xrays and there is something blocking her intestine. They tried some barium fluid and she just threw it up. They want to do surgery to try to get it out. What is the survival rate of a young weak kitty.....

hi
well with all surgery there are always risks but veterinary medicine is very good these days, as good as human surgery i would say and so i'm sure your vet would not be recommending the surgery unless he thought it was necessary.
you really do not have a choice unfortunately if there is a blockage, it has to be removed otherwise the kitten will suffer and die anyway.
i'm sure that your kitten will be given the best care and attention and don't forget if you have any worries at all speak tom your vet about them. It is your right to know what is going on so don't be afraid to ask. A good vet will help to explain everything you need to know.
I hope your little dotty is better soon
best wishes Kate
