Loud meowing

my cat just recently has started meowing really loudly and we dont understand what this is all about he is fed and is a house cat and sometimes goes outside when hes meowing loudly it sounds like hes howling and he cant decide if he wants to be outside or inside please advise

Unfortunately without more information I can't say what the cause may be. If he is not neutered then this could be him calling for a mate, this is normal.

If he is an elderly cat it could be the first signs of dementia.

Distress is another cause for cats to meow and could indicated illness.

Unfortunately you are better placed to be able to say which one of these it could be.
