Male Cat about 7 years old

My cat is spraying all the time and he's constantly meowing lately. Is is possible he has some kind of urinary infection or is it just he's mad at us and jelous of our son? I am going to have to get rid of my cat if he keeps up the spraying and I love him. I really don't know what to do, he's never been to the vet before. He's an indoor cat that was a stray about 6 weeks old, when we found him. I really need to see what you think because I don't know what else to do.

You have not said whether or not he is neutered or not. if he is not then having him neutered will help to stop the problem.

If he is neutered then his behavior is caused by something and is not bad behavior or jelousy. Cats don't have these reactions. Instead something may have upset him and the spraying is his way of making his home smell more like him and so in turn makes him feel happier in his home.

Please see my page hee about this problem https://www.our-happy-cat.com/cat-urine.html

Giving him a period of litter tray re training will help to settle him down again. here is my page for the training https://www.our-happy-cat.com/cat-litter-box.html

Hope you can sort the problem out soon for both you and your cat.

best wishes Kate

He is not neutered since he's never seen a vet, but I did call the vet about 3 years ago and they told me they wouldn't neuter him due to his age. Should I try another vet?

Answer by Kate
I have never heard of that before. You can neuter a cat at any age. Yes I would certainly talk to another vet.
