WHY WOULD A OLDER LARGER MALE CAT BITE THE BACK/NECK OF A SMALLER MALE CAT AND HOLD IN DOWN LIKE HE WAS HUMPING HIM?"

I have come across this behaviour before. Un- neutered male cats can become so frustrated that they will try to mate with anything and that can include other male cats too.

even neutered male cats can become confused if they have a hormone imbalance or if the other cat is giving off a similar scent to female cat in heat.

if your cat is neutered then it may be a good idea to have him checked by a vet in case he does have some hormone problem which may need some treatment.
