male or female cats, what's best?

What makes for a better house cat a boy or a girl? And which is cheaper to get spaid or neutered?

The answer to your first question is either. One sex is not better than the other for being a house cat, it really is all down to their individual personalities. Some cats prefer a more quiet life others are born explorers.
I have had both sexes and found both to be great pets.
As for the costs of neutering etc, it does very much depend on your own vets but generally the male cat operation is cheaper as it is far simpler.
However I would recommend finding your cat from a good animal shelter, they will have already neutered or spayed the cat and given them all their shots, so you will not have to worry about the health of the cat. they will also be able to give you some idea as to the temperament of the cat, so that you will have a better idea if they will be suited to you.
It will also give you far more choice of all the cats they have. finding the right cat for you and your lifestyle is not always easy and if you do choose one from the shelter that turns out not to be suited they will happily take it back from you.

best wishes Kate
