Male Siamese Cat licks self, then foams at mouth

My daughter's year-old Siamese male (adopted from a local rescue group) has been urinating in her bed and on her things (backpack, clothing, etc.) This has been an off-and-on thing that seemed to occur more often when she spent days away from home. For this reason, we thought the problem was behavioral.

That is, until a few days ago when he began licking his genital area for quite some time. After that he began foaming at the mouth.

Does the cat likely have a UTI? What other possibilities are there for these behaviors?

hi
well it sounds to me like he may be distressed in some. this could be causing his urination etc. If he is licking his rear end then there may be a problem there which is causing the distress.

Yes it could be UTi, please see this page for more on this issue

It may also be a blocked anal gland which is causing his discomfort.

I haven't seen the foaming mouth issue and i am wondering if there may be another problem going on here at the same time, perhaps a mouth ulcer etc.

my advice would be to have him checked out by a vet so that all of these possibilities can be checked out.

Hope he is better soon

best wishes Kate
