mother cat and her kittens

MY CAT HAD BABIES ABOUT 6 WEEKS AGO AND SHE PUT THE IN A BOX IN MY BASEMENT. THE CATS ARE FINE I PUT A BLANKET IN THERE FOR THEM. I TRY TO TAKE THE KITTENS OUT TO WALK AROUND AND SHE KEEPS PUTTING THEM BACK IN THE BOX. WHY WONT SHE JUST LET THEM WALK AROUND,

She is following her instinct to look after her kittens. She knows what she is doing and you should let her do what she wants to do.

At 6 weeks old the kittens are still very young and still very much reliant on their mother.

The kittens won't be weaned until between week 8 and week 12 and so until then the female cat will need to be in total charge of the kittens.
