Moving your pet

I have 2 cats, one 6.5 years old and the other 3.We recently moved for the first time and the 3 year old cat adjusted fine. The other one not so well. The first day she hid under a couch. The second day she started to roam and then the third day I had to go to work and when I returned she had pooped on my bed.

How can I help her adjust and prevent this behavior?

Hi
Some cats need to get used to a smaller area first when they first move. So it may be a good idea to confine your cat to one room for a few days with their litter tray bed and toys etc. This allows them to build confidence in the new home.

Then rub your cat with a clean towel and transfer their scent around the house i.e. rub the towel over door frames, chair legs etc.

Also distracting the cat with extra games and toys is a good way to stop them over worrying about the new situation.

Hopefully your cat will settle down and the Middening (see my web page about what causes this to happen here https://www.our-happy-cat.com/cat-poo.html ) will stop.

I also have a web page about moving with a cat which may also be of interest

Best wishes Kate
