My 14 year old cat has developed several problems now.
My 14 year old cat has recently lost some weight. She has been pretty over weight for at least 10 years. Lately besides the weight loss she is drinking allot more water but now she is peeing everywhere. She is peeing On the beds , on the floor, next to the litter but not in the litter. She still does her #2 in the litter box but not her pee . I was thinking she may be Diabetic but my Parents think that it sounds more like a kidney failure.
I know its hard to tell unless i bring her to get tested at the vet but just wondering if you have heard if this and whats your thoughts?
Thank You
Jackie

Hi Jackie
well yes this does sound like feline diabetes to me. She is showing all the classic signs, increased thirst, weight loss and frequent urination.
Please see my page here about feline diabetes
feline-diabetes.htmlHowever she does need to be tested for this by a vet as there are other illness which have some similar symptoms such as thyroid problems
cat-thyroidAt 14 she is getting on and so it is not surprising that these sorts of illnesses appear. However my cat was nearly 18 when she passed and she had all sorts of health issues which were treated for many years, enabling her to live a happy comfortable life.
Best wishes kate
