my cat adores my new kitten but has stopped eating!

i have a 2 year old female entire cat and we have just got a 7 week old female kitten. after about 6 hours, they where cuddled up together and seem to be getting on really well. its now been a week since the kitten arrived and my cat isnt eating properly. i even bought her an expensive food that i know she loves and she just turns her nose up at it! kitten is eating fine but im worried about my cat! please help!!

well it could just be the changes which have caused the change in behaviour of your older cat. Perhaps they feel as if they cannot relax when eating i.e they are keeping one eye open for the kitten. My Little Mo was like that she was very nervous around her food bowl and we didn't have another cat. You could try feeding them separately and not allowing access to the room by the kitten while the other cat is eating.

Apart from that all I can suggest is that if she continues to not eat properly then you may have to consider that she may be ill in some way and a visit to the vets is necessary.

At this stage it is difficult to tell as as i say it may be due to the arrival of the other kitten. if you notice any other changes then perhaps it would be worth while having her checked out just in case.
